The Founding Story

Over the years, the population of the South Asian community in Toronto has been on the rise. With increasing numbers, there was increase in issues that affected the South Asian Community - integration of new immigrants, understanding of Canadian culture and social norms, elder issues etc. We felt that a strong community organization was needed to address these issues and ensure that our community could contribute and thrive in their new home in Toronto. In March of 2010, the five founder members established Bangladesh Centre & Community Services to address these issues in our community and help newcomers and established residents. In September of 2014, BCCS was granted charitable status, in recognition of our work and the positive outcome we have been able to achieve in our community.
